Getting Started with AIP Reintroduction

A step-by-step guide to successfully tracking your food reintroductions

1

Complete Your AIP Elimination Phase

Before using this tracker, ensure you've completed at least 30-60 days of strict AIP elimination to allow your body to heal.

Tip: Work with a healthcare provider to determine when you're ready to start reintroductions.

2

Start Your First Reintroduction

Click 'Add Reintroduction' on the dashboard. Choose a food from Stage 1 (like egg yolks) and set your start date.

Tip: Start with foods least likely to cause reactions. Follow the suggested reintroduction order in the Food Reference guide.

3

Test the Food

Eat a small portion of the food and monitor for symptoms over the next 3-7 days. Increase portion sizes gradually if no reactions occur.

Tip: Only test ONE food at a time to accurately identify any reactions.

4

Log Your Symptoms

From your reintroduction detail page, click 'Log Symptom' whenever you experience any reactions. Record the type, severity, and timing.

Tip: Be thorough - even mild symptoms are worth noting. Some reactions can be delayed by up to 72 hours.

5

Review Your Results

After 3-7 days, check your symptom charts and determine the outcome. Mark the trial as 'Tolerated', 'Partial Reaction', or 'Not Tolerated'.

Tip: Use the severity chart and frequency data to spot patterns. If unclear, wait another few days before deciding.

6

Complete and Continue

Mark the reintroduction as complete and decide your next steps. If tolerated, you can usually add that food back to your diet.

Tip: Wait 3-7 days between each food trial. Take breaks if you're experiencing reactions to allow your body to reset.

Key Principles to Remember

  • •One food at a time - this is crucial for accurate identification
  • •Wait 3-7 days between trials to allow symptoms to fully appear
  • •Start with small portions and gradually increase if tolerated
  • •Track everything - even symptoms you think might be unrelated
  • •Be patient - this process takes time but provides valuable insights
